RICHLAND CENTER POLICE DEPARTMENT
Press Release
July 2, 2018

On June 30th Officers from the Richland Center Police Department made several arrests at 505 S. Church St. in the City of Richland Center. The investigation began when Officers observed a vehicle registered to Steven Beach, who had an active felony arrest warrant through the Department of Corrections, parked outside the residence of 505 S. Church St.

Upon further investigation, Officers received additional information that Steven Beach was inside the residence. While Officers were conducting the initial investigation outside, the occupants of the residence locked the door to the residence and then refused to answer the door. Officers then made forced entry into the residence in order to arrest Beach on the Felony Arrest Warrant. Once inside, Officers located Steven Beach and another male subject, Robert Schoener, hiding in a small room in the residence. Officers also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia located where Schoener had been hiding.

The owner of the residence, Marion McNamer, and McNamer’s adult son were also located within the residence. During the investigation, two additional parties, identified as Kiefer Beran and Jamie Merrill, were located outside the residence.

While speaking with Beran, an Officer observed a methamphetamine pipe protruding from his shorts pocket. During his subsequent arrest, Beran was also found to be in possession of marijuana. At around the same time, Merrill was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia and was taken into custody.

Consent to search the residence was then obtained by Officers. During that search, Officers located methamphetamine, scales, bags for packaging drugs, as well as other assorted drug paraphernalia. The Richland Center Police Department was assisted on scene by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit.

As a result of the investigation the following people were arrested and tentatively charged.

Marion D. McNamer, 41, Richland Center, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a probation violation.

Steven D. Beach, 47, Richland Center, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, and a probation warrant.

Jamie L. Merrill, 39, Avoca, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.

The case has been referred to the Richland County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges to be filed against the above listed parties.
