OFFICIAL PUBLIC NOTICE – CITY OF RICHLAND CENTER

 We will be conducting a public test of the electronic voting equipment at the Municipal Building at 450 S. Main Street on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

2018 Election Dates:  February 20, April 3, August 14 (if needed), and November 6 

Please register to vote in the City Clerk’s Office prior to the election date if you possibly can although you can register at the polls.   For more information on elections: http://elections.wi.gov

In person absentee voting will be held at the City Clerk’s Office – 450 S. Main Street between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday as soon as ballots are available.  If you are unable to vote in person, you may send a request for absentee voting to the above listed address.  All requests must be received by the Thursday prior to the election.  Instructions may be found at http://elections.wi.gov/clerks/guidance-absentee  The link for the request for absentee ballot request is

Absentee voting at the nursing/assisted living homes will take place on February 12 at the following locations:

     Schmitt Woodland Hills – 1400 W. Seminary Street at 8:30 a.m.
     Harvest Guest Home – 875 Westside Drive at 10:00 a.m.
     Our House Assisted Living – 240 and 250 N. Orange Street at 10:45 a.m.

The Community encourages all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote.  Anyone wanting to vote needs to be a registered voter.  Please bring acceptable proof of residence with you to register.

Running for Local Office:

Once an individual completes the Declaration of Candidacy (GAB-162) they are able to circulation Nomination Papers (GAB-169).    The first day for candidates to circulate nomination papers for the Spring Election is December 1, 2017.  The last day for candidates to file nomination papers, declarations of candidacy and campaign registration statements (GAB-1) for the Spring Election is 5:00 p.m. on January 2, 2018.  Forms may be completed and/or picked up in the City Clerk/Treasurer’s office.  Those currently in office not seeking re-election must complete the Notification of Non-candidacy (GAB-163) by December 22, 2017.

Mayoral Candidates must obtain between 50-100 signatures on nomination papers – city wide.
Alderperson Candidates must obtain between 20-40 signatures on nomination papers in their district only.

Offices up for election in the Spring of 2018 and their opponents are:

Mayor Paul Corcoran – opponents are Jay B Mueller and Mike Kaufman
District1 = Alderperson Diane Cox – no opponent
District 2 = Alderperson Travis Wertz – Jay B Mueller
District 3 = Alderperson John Collins – opponent is Bob Bindl
District 4 = Alderperson Mike Kaufman filed a non-candidacy form.  Ryan Cairns

District 1 = (1 year term) Alderperson Jacob Lundgren – opponents Karen Tepley and Ray Wilson Jr.
