10/26/2018 Construction Update

Haseltine Street:   Gerke has completed the punch list items on the project.  The lawn restoration will be monitored in the spring to make sure the grass has established.  There will be one final pay request on the project that includes the rest of the street construction.

Westside Drive Reconstruction:  Gasser has been on site paving Westside Drive the last two days.  They plan to have almost all the asphalt done by the end of the day today, except for a small amount at the north end of the project.  Their goal is to finish the remaining asphalt on the project on Saturday.  Depending on weather or other delays, the asphalt driveways might not be finished until early next week.

Augelli Concrete plans to come back on Monday after Gasser is out of the way to finish the remaining concrete driveways and steps on the project.

In addition to the asphalt and concrete, Gerke will be finishing the lawn restoration, retaining wall, and Mr. Manhole adjustments after the asphalt is finished.

Panorama Estates:  Gasser was on site today finish grading the road in preparation of paving tomorrow.  Gasser plans to pave the road tomorrow and the asphalt trail on Saturday.

Augelli Concrete plans to come on Monday to finish the remaining concrete sidewalk on the project.

Century Fence was on site today doing the pavement marking on USH 14.  The intersection improvements are now complete, except for some concrete sidewalk at the intersection and lawn restoration.

10/8/2018 Construction Update

Haseltine Street:  The street and storm sewer construction on the project was finished last week.  Gerke will have a seeding crew come in this week to finish restoration on the project.

Gerke is bringing in the equipment this week to complete the Mr. Manhole adjustments on the sanitary manholes.

Westside Drive Reconstruction:   All the underground utilities are complete on the project.  Gerke has approximately 1 more day of street removals and base aggregate at the north end of Westside Drive.  They are not building the road today due to the rain.

Augelli Concrete plans to come today to start setting up stringline for the remaining curb on the project.  If they do not get delayed with rain, they are planning to do the remaining curb and gutter on the project this Friday or Saturday.

The current schedule is to complete the remaining asphalt on the project the week of October 22.

Panorama Estates:   Gerke Excavating now has base aggregate on the entire road.  Assuming they do not get further delayed with rain, Augelli Concrete is planning to do the curb and gutter on the project this Friday or Saturday.

The asphalt on the west side of USH 14 was completed last week.  After the asphalt was complete, Gerke modified the traffic control so they can start the median construction on the east end of the project today.

Street Construction Update 9/28/2018

Haseltine Street:  Maddrell Excavating was on site yesterday to replace the manhole cover at the Alcam Metering Manhole.  Gasser Construction will be on site today around noon to start paving the road and side streets.  They plan to have the lower lift of asphalt on Haseltine Street and the side streets finished tomorrow.  Gasser plans to finish the surface layer of asphalt next Tuesday assuming the weather allows.

After the paving is complete, the remaining items include finishing the concrete sidewalk around the Alcam manhole, lawn restoration behind the curb, and completing the Mr. Manhole adjustments on the manholes.  Gerke’s current schedule includes finishing the concrete and starting the restoration next week.  Gerke plans to do the Mr. Manhole adjustments at the same time as the Westside Drive project, which will not be ready to complete for about three weeks.

Westside Drive Reconstruction:  Gerke finished all the underground utilities earlier this week.  They are currently excavating the road and adding base aggregate on Westside Drive from Stewart Street to USH 14.  This will take most of next week to complete.  Augelli Concrete plans to do the remaining curb and gutter on the project the week of October 8th.  The current schedule for paving the rest of the project is the week of October 15th.

In addition to the road construction, Gerke will be respreading topsoil and doing the lawn restoration south of Stewart Street after they are finished with the restoration on Haseltine Street.

Panorama Estates: All the underground utilities are complete on the project.  Gerke is working on placing base aggregate to the road and have approximately 500 feet of road to finish.  Assuming they do not get delayed with rain, they hope to have the base aggregate finished by the middle of next week.  Augelli Concrete will complete the curb and gutter on the road after Gerke is finished placing the aggregate.

Gasser Construction plans to do the asphalt on USH 14 on Monday.  The forecast currently shows a chance of rain.  If the weather does not allow paving on Monday, they plan to do the paving on Tuesday.

James St. Between Kinder and South Streets Reconstruction

The City Public Works Department will be removing the blacktop beginning on Tuesday September 11, 2018 and pavement will be placed on Friday or Saturday, September 13, or 14, 2018 for the two blocks of James Street between Kinder and South Streets.

Construction Project 9/7/18 Update

Westside Drive Reconstruction:  Gerke now has all the utilities finished and the road built through curb and gutter on Westside Drive between Grove Street and Stewart Street and on West 2nd Street.  Augelli Concrete plans to do the concrete driveways on Tuesday.  Gerke plans to finish grade the road in preparation of paving later this week.  Gasser is currently planning on coming Thursday or Friday this week to place the lower lift of asphalt.

Gerke also has a utility crew finishing up the sewer and water laterals on the north end of the project between Stewart Street and USH 14 today.  After the laterals are finished, they will start setting up the temporary water service for the houses on Stewart Street.  While they are waiting for safe water samples for the temporary water service, Gerke will install the remaining storm sewer on the north end of the project this week.  Later this week after they have safe water samples, they plan to hook up the temporary water service to the houses and start the water main construction on Stewart Street.

Haseltine Street: On Friday of last week, Augelli Concrete poured the curb and sidewalk in front of the door to Alcam so they would have access to their doors again by today.  The concrete waterways on the west side of the Church Street intersection were also poured on Friday.  They poured only half the intersection to allow one lane access across Church Street at all times.  When the concrete waterway is poured on the east half of the intersection later this week, traffic will be able to pass the intersection on the west half of the intersection where the concrete waterway was already completed.

Gerke is hauling 3 inch base aggregate between Park Street and Sheldon Street today.  After this is finished, they will start hauling 1 1/4 inch base aggregate in preparation of curb and gutter later this week.  Augelli Concrete plans to set up the string line for the curb and gutter today on the entire project.  They plan to complete the curb and gutter on Thursday or Friday of this week and do the concrete sidewalk and driveway aprons next week.

Assuming the weather allows, the plan is to finish grade and pave the street next week.

Panorama Estates: The water main installation is being finished today.  After today, all the sanitary sewer and water main will be complete.  After the water main is installed, they will begin testing the water main and start installing the remaining storm sewer on the project.

Augelli Concrete will be finishing the concrete pavement for the intersection improvements today.  Gerke plans to construct the Muth driveway tomorrow or Wednesday to connect the driveway to the new street.

Augelli plans to do the remaining curb and gutter on the west side of the intersection this week or early next week.  This curb was previously not completed to maintain access to the Muth driveway during construction.  After this curb is complete, the asphalt on the west side of the intersection will be completed.

Church/Haseltine Construction Update:

The intersection of Haseltine Street and Church Street will be one lane only for the entire week of September 7th through September 14th for the construction project.

Please use extra caution when traveling in this area.  Thank you for your cooperation.

8/20/18 Construction Update

Westside Drive Reconstruction: Gerke has made good progress with the underground utilities the last few weeks.  Gerke now has all the sanitary sewer main installed on the project.  They are now installing water main on Westside Drive from the Arbor Lane intersection heading south to Stewart Street.  They will stop installing the water main at the hydrant just north of Stewart Street to maintain access on Stewart Street.  After the water main is installed to that hydrant, they will take safe water samples and do a pressure test on the water main.  While they are waiting on the safe water samples, Gerke will start start installing storm sewer from USH 14 to Stewart Street.  After Gerke receives the safe water samples, they will stop installing storm sewer and start installing sanitary and water laterals on Westside Drive from USH 14 to Stewart street.

Gerke also has a grading crew constructing Westside Drive from the Grove Street intersection to Stewart Street.  With the utility construction on the north end of Westside Drive and the road construction on the south end, Gerke is maintaining access to the site through Stewart Street and Grove Street/2nd Street.  After all the base aggregate is installed to Stewart Street and residents have access on the south end through Westside Drive, the grading crew will start grading and installing base aggregate on 2nd Street.  Gerke plans to have the road built through base aggregate on Westside Drive from Grove Street to Stewart Street and 2nd Street by early next week.  After the base aggregate is installed, Augelli Concrete will start installing curb and gutter.

Panorama Estates:

Gerke Excavating and Maddrell Excavating are focusing on the USH 14 intersection improvements to get them finished as soon as possible.  Augelli Concrete is currently on site installing curb and gutter.  They started installing curb and gutter on Friday but stopped when it started to rain Friday afternoon.  They hope to finish the curb and gutter on USH 14 today before the rain starts.  After the curb is installed and the weather allows, they will pour the concrete median and concrete sidewalk along USH 14.  Augelli will temporarily leave a gap in the sidewalk where an old well casing was uncovered when the sidewalk was being removed on the east end of the project.

Augelli also plans to pour most of the concrete pavement on USH 14 this week.  They will leave a gap in the concrete to allow the contractors for Duane’s building access to the site while the concrete is curing.  After the concrete is strong enough to allow construction traffic, Augelli will pour the remaining concrete in USH 14 next week.

Maddrell Excavating is also currently building the first 300 feet of road on Panorama Court through base aggregate to give the building contractors a new access to the site before they remove the old access to the site required for the USH 14 improvements.   After the new access is complete, they will install the remaining sanitary sewer on the project.

Haseltine Street:

Gerke Excavating has made good progress on the storm sewer the last couple weeks.  They plan to finish the storm sewer on Tuesday or Wednesday this week depending on weather.  After the storm sewer is finished, they will start grading the road and adding base aggregate.  The road construction through aggregate, curb and gutter, and asphalt should take approximately 3 weeks to complete.

Street Construction Update:

July 24, 2018
Westside Drive Reconstruction: Gerke Excavating has all the water main, sanitary sewer, and laterals installed on Westside Drive from the Grove Street intersection to Stewart Street.  All the utility work is now complete within this area.  A1 Excavating is currently installing force main and water main on Grove Street as part of a separate contract with the Utility.  The utility work on Grove Street should be complete next week.  Gerke Excavating will not start reconstructing the road on Westside Drive and 2nd Street until the utility work on Grove Street is done to allow property owners the ability to get to their house from either the north or south.

Gerke is currently installing the storm sewer today from the river to Westside Drive within the storm sewer easement on the Tjossem property.  Gerke estimates this will take approximately 2 days to complete.  After the storm sewer is finished, they will start setting up temporary water service for the houses on the north end of Westside Drive between USH 14 and Stewart Street.  Construction notices will be delivered to the property owners tomorrow for the next phase of work.  After the temporary water service is set up, Gerke will start installing the sanitary sewer from the north end of the project heading south to Stewart Street.

Gasser is on site today paving the lower lift of asphalt on Miner Court.  They will wait to pave the asphalt surface until they come back to pave Westside Drive.

Panorama Estates: Gerke Excavating removed the existing concrete median east of the intersection and has the traffic shifted to the north to allow the remaining intersection improvements to be completed on the south side of the intersection.  The existing concrete on the south side of the intersection will be removed next week.  After the concrete is removed, the required utility adjustments within the intersection will be completed.

Haseltine Street:  A1 Excavating is currently finishing the sanitary sewer and water main on Haseltine Street as part of the contract with the Utility.  Gerke Excavating is hauling in new storm sewer pipe this week and plans to start installing storm sewer next week.
